Police teams in İzmir announced that 18 kilograms and 500 grams of gold bars were seized from 6 Uzbekistan-national female passengers who arrived at İzmir Adnan Menderes Airport from Dubai by plane and were stopped at the airport exit point.

Teams from the İzmir Provincial Police Department's Anti-Smuggling Crimes Branch conducted a search on 02.10.2024 on 6 Uzbekistan-national female passengers who arrived at İzmir Adnan Menderes Airport from Dubai by plane and were stopped at the airport exit point, as well as in 2 vehicles that had come to meet them.
It was stated that during these searches, 82 gold bars, each weighing approximately 110 grams, 18 game consoles and controllers (PlayStation), and 3 smart mobile phones (iPhone 16) were seized.

Furthermore, based on a court order, it was stated that as a result of internal body examinations and surgical procedures performed on the female Uzbekistan citizens, 84 gold bars, each weighing approximately 110 grams, were seized.
As a result of the searches, it was stated that 18 kilograms and 500 grams of gold bars with an approximate market value of 55 million TL were seized.
In connection with the incident, a total of 7 suspects, including 1 person determined to have assisted the women, were arrested and sent to prison.
