In Ankara, two individuals named O.D.B and Ç.E. were detained on charges of abusing a 12-year-old girl. In his statement to the police, Ç.E. claimed he did not know the victim was 12 years old, stating, "I thought she was 15-16. We only kissed and hugged."
In the defense provided by the suspect's lawyer, it was claimed that the young girl acted older than her age, and a request was made for trial without arrest.
The other suspect, O.B.D., a high school student who is a professional football player, also admitted to the sexual abuse in his statement, saying, "We kissed a little."
According to the report by Can Uğur from Cumhuriyet Newspaper, the duty judge released both suspects under judicial control with house arrest. Although the judge assessed that "...there is strong suspicion of a crime based on concrete evidence and the crime charged against the suspects is a catalog crime," they rejected the prosecutor's request for arrest.
The judge's decision included the following statements:
"Although it was requested by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office that the suspects be arrested separately for the crime of Qualified Sexual Abuse of a Child Who Has Completed the Age of Twelve; considering the victim's and suspects' statements, the forensic report dated 25/08/2025, and the entire scope of the file, it is concluded that there is strong suspicion of a crime based on concrete evidence, and that the crime charged against the suspects is among the catalog crimes; however, considering that most of the evidence has been collected and that arrest is a temporary measure, it is believed that the expected benefit from arrest can be achieved at this stage through judicial control measures, therefore the request for arrest is REJECTED, and it is decided that the suspects be RELEASED provided that it is determined they are not convicted or detained for another crime. However, since it is deemed necessary for the suspects to be placed under judicial control given the scope of the file and the charged crime, it is decided in accordance with Article 109/3-j of the Criminal Procedure Code (CMK) that the suspects be PLACED UNDER JUDICIAL CONTROL during the investigation, and that the suspect NOT LEAVE THEIR RESIDENCE until the end of the investigation by wearing an electronic shackle in accordance with Article 109/3-j of the CMK (...)."
