A family of 4, who set out to go to Malatya, stopped for a break at a restaurant on Mehmet Akif Ersoy Street in the Borazanlar neighborhood yesterday morning. The family, who had soup there, forgot the children's bag they had brought with them at the restaurant when they left.
Yusuf Eren, a university student working as a waiter at the restaurant, noticed the bag the family had left on the edge of the table. A large amount of gold came out of a bag inside the bag, which Eren and his colleagues opened together. The business owner, whom Eren informed, called the police to report the situation.
'THE GOLD IS WORTH 1 MILLION 200 THOUSAND TL'
Reaching Ankara 2 hours later, the family realized their bag was missing and notified the police. The family returned to Bolu and retrieved the bag containing 1 million 200 thousand TL worth of gold, which they had forgotten, by coming to the restaurant accompanied by the police.
Yusuf Eren, the student working at the restaurant, stated that they were very surprised when they saw the gold and said the following:
“It was around 08:00-09:00 in the morning. A family of 4 came and had their soup. Since they were coming from a long distance, they ate at our place on their route. They ate their meal and left, but they forgot their bag. We didn't look at the bag for a while, thinking they would come back. When we opened it and looked, there were toys inside, and there was also a black bag. I asked our female staff member to open the bag, thinking maybe there were personal belongings in it. Gold came out of the bag. These were worth 1 million 200 thousand TL. We were really very surprised. We called our boss, and he notified the police teams. The family was going to Malatya; they realized this when they approached Ankara and called the police. Since we had also called the police, neither party was victimized. The family thanked us very much. They had their lunch here as well before continuing on their way.”
