An armed attack was carried out by a masked person or persons on a car parked in Kağıthane. It was determined that the attack was carried out with a Beretta-brand weapon equipped with a silencer. In the incident, 30-year-old Anas Abdel K., who was sitting in the driver's seat, lost his life, while his friend Fadı M. (31), who was sitting in the front passenger seat, was seriously injured. Fadı M. climbed out of the window during the attack and took refuge in a çiğköfte shop, but the attacker caught him there and seriously injured him. Additionally, retired soldier Eray K., who was acting as a bodyguard for the pair, was wounded in the leg.

Following the incident, the Istanbul police acted quickly, and Eray K., whose statement was taken, stated that he had started working for Anas El K. and Fadı M., who were involved in real estate, 3 days before the incident. Eray K. claimed that the three of them had come to Kağıthane from Zeytinburnu and met with a Palestinian named S.A.Z. there.

In the investigation launched after the attack, the Istanbul police detained 4 people and determined that the actual perpetrators of the incident had fled abroad from Kırklareli. It was learned that the criminals left the country 2.5 hours after the incident. The Istanbul police conducted rapid correspondence via Interpol and had the suspects captured in Romania.
