HÜDA PAR has announced Ali Bilmez, who was tried for membership in Hezbollah in the assassination case where Diyarbakır Police Chief Ali Gaffar Okkan and 5 of his bodyguards were murdered, as its mayoral candidate for the Bismil district of Diyarbakır.
According to the report by Tolga Balcı from Gazete Pencere, HÜDA PAR, known for its proximity to Hezbollah—an organization associated with "pig-tie" torture, political murders, and unsolved killings in the 1990s and early 2000s—announced its mayoral candidates for Şanlıurfa, Diyarbakır, Siirt, Kahta, Ceylanpınar, Eğil, and Bismil during a 'Candidate Introduction Program' held in Şanlıurfa.
In the program, former HÜDA PAR Şanlıurfa Provincial Chair Emin Özaslan was announced as the candidate for Şanlıurfa Metropolitan Municipality, HÜDA PAR Deputy Chair and Mersin MP Faruk Dinç as the candidate for Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality, and Abdurrahman Özcan as the candidate for Siirt Municipality.
In the Bismil district of Diyarbakır, HÜDA PAR nominated former Bismil District Chair Ali Bilmez as its district mayoral candidate.
The name of Bilmez, whom the party nominated, appears in the indictment for the assassination of Diyarbakır Police Chief A. Gaffar Okkan, who was martyred along with 5 police officers.

A prison sentence of up to 15 years had been requested for Ali Bilmez, who was tried while under arrest for membership in Hezbollah in the murder of Okkan, who was killed by the organization.
In the indictment, a 15-year prison sentence was requested for Ali Bilmez in accordance with Article 168/2 of the Turkish Penal Code (TCK). Ali Bilmez, one of the defendants in the Okkan murder case, was released by the court taking into account the time he had spent in detention.
