The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has issued detention warrants for 149 suspects who allegedly applied for study abroad loan support using fraudulent documents presented as if they were issued by overseas education consultancies, despite not being university graduates and having no records of international travel.

Detention warrants have been issued for 149 suspects who obtained study abroad loan support using forged documents.
According to the statement from the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, within the scope of the investigation conducted by the Investigation Bureau for Forgery and Fraud Crimes, it was determined that 149 suspects—some of whom are not university graduates, have no records of international travel, and were allegedly receiving loan support while claiming to be pursuing doctoral studies at universities such as the University of Freiburg, University of Duisburg-Essen, University of Lucerne, University of Cologne, and the University of St. Gallen in Germany, Switzerland, and Iceland—are to be detained in operations centered in Ankara across 17 provinces.
103 APPREHENDED
Following a criminal complaint by the General Directorate of Credit and Dormitories (KYK) of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, 103 of the 149 suspects for whom detention warrants were issued have been apprehended by the Ankara Police Department's Financial Crimes Investigation Branch.
Efforts to apprehend the remaining suspects and transfer them to the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office are ongoing.
