They targeted the Constitution: Özgür Özel's 'HÜDA PAR' question to Devlet Bahçeli

Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel visited the Susurluk District Municipality in Balıkesir.

Addressing citizens after the visit, CHP leader Özgür Özel criticized HÜDA PAR Chairman Zekeriya Yapıcıoğlu, who announced that they are against Article 4 of the Constitution.

"On one side, there is the People's Alliance. One of the components of the People's Alliance is HÜDAPAR..." said Özel, adding, "HÜDAPAR, which says 'Do not leave women unprotected like stray animals, let us adopt them,' and HÜDAPAR, which hired lawyers to defend those involved in 'pig-tie' murders and then registered them to their party, was saying 'We are against the first 4 articles of the Constitution.' They kept their mouths shut during the election period. Now they are speaking; they say we are against the fourth article of the Constitution. I have no words for HÜDAPAR; you cannot ask a microbe why it causes disease!"

Continuing his remarks, Özel addressed MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli as follows:

"But those who claim to be nationalist-conservative, especially when Tayyip Bey has HÜDAPAR on his right arm and Devlet Bahçeli on his left. I am asking Devlet Bey, what do you say to this HÜDAPAR? Look at who is with whom!"

REACTION TO NUMAN KURTULMUŞ

Özgür Özel criticized the fact that only Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş was allowed to speak at the funeral ceremony in Didim for Ayşenur Ezgi Eygi, a Turkish-American activist killed by Israeli forces, stating:

"On one hand, there is a display of demagoguery. For 1 year, the Israeli state has been committing state terrorism. For months, they remained silent with great political negligence. They continued trade with Israel. They denied it repeatedly, were caught, and stopped it with great difficulty. Recently, a socialist girl of ours, Ayşenur Ezgi Eygi, went to stand up for the Palestinian cause. The murderers shot Ayşenur.

They came to the funeral with 5 ministers and the Parliament Speaker. We were pleased. Then we saw they had set up a podium. Who was going to speak? The Vice President and the Parliament Speaker. No one else! They tried to engage in politics; our Didim district organization did not allow that political maneuvering and did not let them put that podium there. We performed the funeral prayer, said our prayers, and just as we were about to send off the deceased, the Deputy Head of Religious Affairs gave the microphone to the Parliament Speaker. They forced the religious official into a fait accompli, took the microphone, and spoke for an hour as if he were neutral. Then I said what I had to say. I told them, 'You acted shamefully.' I told them not to use the religious official for this purpose. They were embarrassed in the public conscience."

CALL FOR BALLOT BOX TO ERDOĞAN

Reiterating his call for early elections, Özgür Özel addressed AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, stating, "You will go to the ballot box, Tayyip Bey, you will go to the ballot box. The place for those who cannot prevent unemployment, cannot end poverty, and cannot lower prices to go is the ballot box. You cannot escape; if there is no livelihood, there is an election."

RESPONSE TO BİLAL ERDOĞAN

Criticizing the statements made by Erdoğan's son, Bilal Erdoğan, regarding immigrants, Özel said, "He says, 'I do not accept that Syrians commit crimes in Turkey. Syrians have a lower crime rate compared to Turks. They are more compatible with Turkey than our own citizens.' Bilal Bey, you keep the Syrians here. We will first send your government away, and then we will send the Syrians back to their homeland."

Özel continued:

"Cheap labor, he says! How is it a sound mind to praise Syrians while so many of our young people from Balıkesir and so many children of this homeland are unemployed? Let us note this down: how is it a conscience to portray those who get involved in crimes every day as pure as driven snow? This is what the AK Party is, this is what Bilal Erdoğan is, this is what Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is. These are friends of the Syrians and opponents of this nation, my friends."

Recalling Bilal Erdoğan's remark that "EYT (Retirement at Age) was a huge mistake. We could not oppose it. We did very wrong. There is no country where you get paid for doing nothing," Özel stated, "Look at that! A world of Syrians will get paid for doing nothing, and you will applaud that; Bilal Efendi, you take that 12 thousand 500 liras, forget about educating a child, forget about paying rent, just try to feed yourself alone and let me see you once!"
