They traveled 14,000 kilometers to steal 200,000 liras: Chilean thieves caught in a short time
In Ümraniye, Istanbul, E.E. hit the curb with his tire while trying to park his car to deposit money at a bank. When he got out to check the damaged front tire, a person who approached him to 'help' took advantage of his momentary distraction, grabbed the bag containing 200,000 liras from inside the car, and fled. The Theft Bureau teams of the Public Security Branch, which launched an investigation into the incident, detained the two suspects the next day after identifying them. The two thieves, who were learned to be Chilean, were referred to the courthouse after their procedures.

The incident, which took place in Ümraniye on the morning of November 7, allegedly occurred as follows: E.E. set out to deposit 200,000 liras he had with him at a bank branch. While trying to park his car near the bank, he hit the front tire against the curb. At that moment, an unidentified person approached him and tried to help. He even gave directions to help him park the car. As E.E. got out to check the tire after parking, the person who had just 'helped' him grabbed the bag full of 200,000 liras from inside the car and fled.
A ROBBERY FROM 14,000 KILOMETERS AWAY
Realizing he had been robbed, E.E. immediately reported the situation to the police. Through camera footage analysis conducted by the Public Security Branch Theft Bureau teams, the suspect's identity was determined in a short time. It was determined that the perpetrator and his accomplice, who acted as a lookout, had come to our country from Chile, 14,000 kilometers away. The police detained the thief, Fabian O.P.G., and his accomplice, Patricio E.R.V., in Fatih. 9,000 liras and 855 dollars were seized from the suspects, who were caught one day after the incident. The suspects were referred to the courthouse after their procedures at the Theft and Pickpocketing Bureau.
