They wore ski masks and killed a 19-year-old: Arrest decision

In the Darıca district of Kocaeli, 2 individuals who wore ski masks and shot a young man they had argued with on social media were arrested by the court and sent to prison.

The incident occurred on April 12 at a coffeehouse located on Reşat Nuri Güntekin Street in the Fevzi Çakmak neighborhood of Darıca district.

According to allegations, Arda Yücel Ekşioğlu (19) and Y.T. had an argument on social media.

As the incident escalated, 17-year-old C.Ş. and Y.T. put on ski masks and arrived at the coffeehouse where Arda Yücel Ekşioğlu was located on a stolen motorcycle.

Y.T. drew a weapon and fired into the coffeehouse. Arda Yücel Ekşioğlu, who was targeted by the bullets, was seriously injured, while the 2 suspects who carried out the act fled. Ekşioğlu, who was taken to the hospital in critical condition, lost his life on April 20.

Following the murder, the Kocaeli Police Department homicide bureau teams took action.

Deepening the investigation, the teams determined that the 2 suspects had fled the city. Following technical and physical surveillance, murder suspect Y.T. was captured in Mersin, and motorcycle driver C.Ş. was captured in Sakarya.

R.Ç., İ.A., M.İ.A., E.Ö., and İ.K.T., who were alleged to have helped the two suspects escape and hide, were captured in operations held in Istanbul, Sakarya, Mersin, and Kocaeli.

Y.T. AND C.Ş. ARRESTED FOR INTENTIONAL HOMICIDE

The 8 suspects, whose statements were taken, were referred to the Gebze Courthouse today after their testimonies. Y.T. and C.Ş., who were brought before the prosecutor, were arrested for the crime of "Intentional homicide," while E.Ö. and İ.K.T. were released.

Additionally, İ.A., M.İ.G., and R.Ç. were released under judicial control conditions for the crime of "Concealing, altering, or destroying evidence of a crime."

Furthermore, A.Ö. and A.U.Ş., who were determined to have been involved in the crime of "Concealing, altering, or destroying evidence of a crime," were captured today.

The 2 suspects will be referred to the courthouse tomorrow after their statements are taken.
