In Mersin, 2 of the suspects who were taken into custody for various crimes and brought to the courthouse escaped by breaking the door lock. While one of the suspects has been caught, security camera footage of the incident has emerged. It was noted that the other suspects closed the door and waited during those moments.

The incident occurred 2 days ago at the Mersin Courthouse. A group of suspects taken into custody for various crimes was brought to the courthouse to be brought before the court.

Two of the suspects broke the door lock of the iron-barred cell where they were being held to appear in court and escaped while handcuffed. The other suspects did not leave their places.

ONE WAS CAUGHT

The Mersin Chief Public Prosecutor's Office announced that one of the two convicts who escaped from the secure waiting area while being brought to the courthouse to be tried for different crimes has been caught. In response to claims circulating on social media that the convicts "escaped from the courthouse detention center," it was stated that there is no detention center at the Mersin Courthouse, and instead, convicts and detainees are held in secure waiting rooms before hearings.

Security camera footage of the incident at the courthouse has emerged. The footage shows the moments when 2 suspects, who forced open the door of the iron-barred cell where many suspects were located, escaped while handcuffed.

 

In the continuation of the footage, it was recorded that another suspect closed the door and the others waited without escaping.

THOSE WHO AIDED THE ESCAPE WERE ARRESTED

In the statement from the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was stated, "On March 5, convicts named H.A. and A.Y., whose trials are ongoing, found the opportunity when the assigned gendarmerie personnel left their post, and escaped by removing the lock part of the door from the wall. One of the escaped convicts, A.Y., was caught immediately, and search efforts for H.A. are ongoing." Furthermore, it was reported that suspects named H.H. and A.G., who were considered to have aided the escape, were arrested for the crime of "facilitating the escape of a convict," and a judicial investigation has been initiated regarding the gendarmerie personnel involved in the incident.
