Those responsible remain unpunished in the case of Enes Temel, who lost his life on the Tünektepe cable car line
In the disaster that occurred on April 12, 2024, at the Tünektepe Cable Car Line in the Konyaaltı district of Antalya, 1 person lost their life and 18 people were injured. While investigations into the incident are ongoing, the family of 26-year-old Enes Temel, who was responsible for the maintenance of the cable car line and lost his life in the same place two years ago, spoke to journalist Seren Altay.

The cable car disaster in Antalya has brought the death of 26-year-old technician Enes Temel at the same location two years ago and his family's legal struggle back to the agenda.
Working as a technician, Enes Temel fell 30 meters to the concrete ground while performing maintenance on the cable car cabins traveling from Sarısu to Tünektepe.
Despite all efforts by the medical team that arrived at the scene, Temel could not be saved, and his body was taken to the morgue of the Antalya Forensic Medicine Institute for an autopsy.
It has emerged that Enes Temel, who lost his life two years ago, had been assigned to the task without receiving training, was working in an area where safety measures were inadequate, and that no one was held responsible following his death.

“THEY WERE WORKING EVEN ON WINDY DAYS”
“Enes had only been on the job for a week. There is a top point where the cable car cabins arrive; the cabins enter from one side, let the passengers out, and rotate inside to exit from the other side to go back down. Enes was checking the control panel there, and on days with strong winds, he was using binoculars to check the intersection points of the ropes with the poles and the condition of the cabins. Enes had not received any training and was being made to work at that highest point.
“THE CABIN HIT ENES AND DRAGGED HIM TO THE PRECIPICE”
On another windy day, the cable cars were stopped, and Enes was checking the cabins and ropes with binoculars. At the same time, there was an engineer on duty in one of the cabins, and he called him to ask if the wind was too strong.
Meanwhile, he was standing in the area where the cabins enter that platform. In other words, the cabin was supposed to come from the opposite side. However, while Enes was performing his checks there, the cable car system started running in reverse, and the cabin inside exited the platform from the point where it entered, hitting Enes from behind and causing him to fall into the precipice.
“IT IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR IT TO HOLD A PERSON”
There is a safety net of about 1 meter in front of him. After the accident, it was seen that the tension ropes of the net were broken. And it was already impossible for that net to hold a person. At the scene, the net was already sagging and its ropes were broken.
“NO TRAINING WAS PROVIDED”
There is gross negligence; even having a child who just started the job work at that height without any training or licensing is a major act of negligence.
“WE BELIEVE THE EXPERT REPORT WAS WRITTEN TO COVER UP THE INCIDENT”
No criminal action was taken against anyone regarding the incident. We believe that the expert report written after the incident was written to cover it up, and it was immediately appealed. We are striving for this incident to be clarified and for those responsible for these acts of negligence to be punished.”
