The murder of Sinan Ateş, the former President of the Ülkü Ocakları who was killed in an assassination in Ankara on December 30, 2022, remains on the agenda.

Selma Ateş, the sister of Sinan Ateş, who was sitting in a cafe with her lawyer in Bursa, went to the police to file a complaint after realizing she was being followed.

Ateş, who gave a statement at the police station, identified those who were following her.

Cahit Özdemir, the former Bursa President of the Ülkü Ocakları and a friend of Sinan Ateş, stated in his explanation to 12punto that those who followed Selma Ateş were from the Bursa Ülkü Ocakları.

THREATENING STATEMENT FROM THE BURSA ÜLKÜ OCAKLARI PRESIDENT

Following these developments, a statement made by Bursa Ülkü Ocakları President Mehmet Muhittin Saltık after he took office has come to light.

Saltık, who was appointed as the Bursa Ülkü Ocakları President on August 19, 2023, issued what were essentially threats in his statement.

"I would like to give a piece of advice to the valuable people of Bursa. As of today, any uncouth writing or thought against our Leader and our esteemed Chairman will have a harsh response in kind,” said Saltık, adding, “My request to you is that opposition groups who do not want to see the harsh face of the organization should stop their voices and thoughts and lead a life away from discord.”

BURSA GOVERNOR'S OFFICE DENIED

The Bursa Governor's Office issued a press release following Selma Ateş's complaint and the statements of Sinan Ateş's friend Cahit Özdemir.

In the statement made by the Governor's Office, it was stated that the police units identified 4 individuals, 3 of whom were municipal employees who had gone to the social facility to eat, and the other individual was a guide working at the museum located at the social facility.

It was stated that it was determined that the individuals in question were not connected to the Ülkü Ocakları and were not following Selma Ateş, thereby refuting the claims of Selma Ateş and Cahit Özdemir.

The full statement of the Bursa Governor's Office is as follows:

"A statement has become necessary following news reports in some media outlets on 12.06.2024 claiming that 'Those who followed Sinan Ateş's sister Selma Ateş turned out to be deputy provincial presidents of the Ülkü Ocakları' and similar reports.

Upon the application made by Selma Ateş Kazanç to the Yıldırım District Teleferik Police Center, stating that she left her mother's residence in Bursa's Başaran Neighborhood on 12.06.2024, went to a municipal social facility called 'Hünkar Köşkü' in Yıldırım District with her friends, and was followed there, the work carried out by our Public Security Branch Directorate identified 4 individuals at the social facility belonging to the municipality, the individuals were questioned, and it was understood from the camera footage and investigation that 3 of the individuals in question were municipal employees who went to the social facility for the purpose of eating, the other individual was a guide working at the Hünkar Köşkü Museum located next to the social facility, they had no connection with the Ülkü Ocakları, and they were not following the complainant Selma Ateş Kazancı.

The investigation is being followed with sensitivity by our Provincial Police Department under the coordination of the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
