The Six-Party Table, which emerged as a notable move in Turkish politics, dissolved following 13 rounds of meetings and the May 14-28 presidential and parliamentary elections.
It has been notable that the leaders who took part in the Table have begun to withdraw from the political scene.
Here is a look at the Six-Party Table and the current status of its political leaders...
KEMAL KILIÇDAROĞLU
At the Republican People's Party (CHP) Ordinary Congress or Congress of Democracy and Unity held at the Ankara Sports Hall on November 4-5, 2023, Özgür Özel competed against Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu and became the 8th Chairman of the CHP.
Kılıçdaroğlu, who was considered one of the architects of the Six-Party Table alongside İYİ Party leader Meral Akşener, became the first name to leave both the chairmanship and the Six-Party Table shortly before the local elections.
MERAL AKŞENER
Before the May 14-28 elections, following the 12th meeting of the Six-Party Table, Akşener had called for Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu and Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş to be presidential candidates, but she was persuaded to return to the Six-Party Table.
After Erdoğan won the May 14-28 elections, the 1st Chairman of the İYİ Party, Meral Akşener, decided to enter the local elections "free and independent" and was only able to win Nevşehir in the elections.
In the İYİ Party, where votes were halved, Akşener took her party to a Congress after the election and did not run as a candidate at the Congress.
Thus, Müsavat Dervişoğlu became the chairman of the İYİ Party at the 5th Extraordinary Congress of the İYİ Party held on April 27, 2024.
Akşener thus became the 2nd name at the Six-Party Table to leave the chairmanship.
TEMEL KARAMOLLAOĞLU
Saadet Party Chairman Temel Karamollaoğlu announced in a live broadcast he attended on TV5 last night that he would be leaving his chairmanship due to health issues. Karamollaoğlu pointed to June 30 for an extraordinary congress.
The Saadet Party, which received 1.09 percent of the vote in the local elections, was frequently criticized, while the Yeniden Refah Party, which comes from the same political tradition, reached a vote rate of 6.19 percent.
Thus, Karamollaoğlu will be the 3rd name who took part in the Six-Party Table to leave the chairman's seat.
ALİ BABACAN AND DAVUTOĞLU
In the May 14-28 elections, the DEVA Party entered Parliament with 15 deputies and the Future Party (Gelecek Partisi) with 10 deputies from the CHP lists.
Following the elections, it was frequently stated that while their parties' vote shares were criticized, they did not have a vote share that would correspond to a total of 45 deputies.
DEVA Party leader Ali Babacan remained at a 0.33 vote share in the local elections, while the Future Party, chaired by Ahmet Davutoğlu, was only able to reach a 0.07 vote share.
