Those who threatened Atlas Çağlayan's family face the judge
Eight defendants, five of whom are in custody, who sent threatening messages to the family of Atlas Çağlayan, who was stabbed to death in Istanbul's Güngören district, will appear before a judge for the first time today.

An investigation was launched by the Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office into 9 defendants, including one child driven to crime, who sent threatening messages to the family of 17-year-old Atlas Çağlayan, who was murdered in a fight in Güngören, and who opened a social media account in the victim's name to post about the incident. In the indictment prepared within this scope, it was requested that Y.T. be sentenced to 1 year and 8 months to 8 years and 2 months in prison for the crimes of 'making threats using the names of criminal organizations' and 'making threats with more than one person by making oneself unrecognizable.' In the indictment, it was requested that defendants Ömer Faruk Ay, Sevgi Timur, Abdülsamet Erdoğan, and Ferhat Karadağ be sentenced to 2 years and 6 months to 12 years and 3 months in prison for the crime of 'qualified threat.' For defendant Ömer Can Derin, a prison sentence of 3 to 6 years was requested for the crime of 'making threats through press and media to create fear and panic among the public,' for defendant Burak Türk, 9 months to 7 years and 6 months for the crime of 'incitement to commit a crime through press and media,' for defendant Alaa Faısal, a total of 4 years and 6 months to 10 years and 6 months for 2 crimes, and for defendant Ömer Can Özdoğan, 2 years, 3 months, and 15 days to 6 years and 4 months for the crimes of 'unlawfully giving or obtaining data' and 'publicly insulting the memory of a person.'
THEY WILL APPEAR BEFORE THE JUDGE FOR THE FIRST TIME TODAY
Following the investigation, 8 defendants, 5 of whom are in custody, will appear before a judge for the first time today. On the other hand, it was learned that the file of the defendant named Y.T., who is under 18, was separated and sent to the Juvenile Court. The defendants will make their defense for the first time at the hearing to be held at the Bakırköy 19th Criminal Court of First Instance.
