In Ankara, 57-year-old Zehra G. filed a 'property division lawsuit' against her ex-husband, 62-year-old Halil S., whom she had divorced on the grounds of violation of the obligation of loyalty. In the expert report submitted to the court, the opinion was expressed that half of the couple's house should be left to Zehra G. Halil S. objected to the report by submitting a petition to the court stating, 'The killing of the plaintiff is mandatory.' Following this, Zehra G. obtained a restraining order against her ex-husband.
Zehra G., a 31-year-old mother of two living in the Keçiören district, filed for divorce in 2015 against Halil S., to whom she had been married for 31 years, on the grounds of 'violation of the obligation of loyalty.' The court ruled that Halil S. should pay 500 TL in alimony to Zehra G. and decided to divorce the couple in 2018. In 2021, Zehra G. applied to the Family Court and filed a 'property division lawsuit.' The court requested the preparation of an expert report for the property division. In the 10-page expert report submitted to the court last month, the value of the house purchased in Keçiören and the real estate purchased in the Kahramankazan district during the marriage were determined, and the opinion was expressed that half of both should be given to Zehra G. and half to Halil S. It was decided to send the expert report to the parties and the hearing was postponed to November.
'THE STATE FEEDS THEM IN PRISONS ANYWAY'
Before the hearing, Halil S. submitted a threatening petition to the court, objecting to the expert report. The 3-page objection petition, which entered the case file, included statements by Halil S. such as, 'I do not accept the report prepared by the expert. I do not recognize this justice. I am staying in a shack. The killing of the plaintiff is mandatory. Justice has disappeared in Turkey. While the expert should have been impartial, they took the side of women. They have victimized me with their lies. I am not living right now, and they will not live either. The state feeds them in prisons anyway, and I will choose to live there.' Following this, Zehra G. applied to the court and obtained a 1-month restraining order against Halil S.
'I CANNOT OPEN THE DOOR TO ANYONE'
Stating that her life is in danger and that she was shocked when she saw the petition her ex-husband submitted to the court, Zehra G. said, "In his defense, he used words stating that it is mandatory to kill me and that he will not let me live. I am very anxious during this process. He is already an aggressive person. He was a person who did not work during our marriage. Because he did not work, we did not have a proper marriage. I am currently in a state of anxiety. I cannot open the door to anyone. He is a person prone to violence. He subjected me to violence during my marriage. He is willing to kill me and serve time in prison. Because he is prone to violence, my children and I did not cross him," she said.
'I AM UNDER THREAT'
Stating that she learned about Halil S.'s threatening petition objecting to the expert report through her lawyer, Zehra G. said, "When I learned that he objected to the expert report in this way, I went and filed a complaint. I sent my complaint to my lawyer, and the prosecutor's office issued a 1-month restraining order. But no matter how much of a restraining order they issue, I am under threat. I am anxious. I cannot open the door to anyone. I know that the other party lives in Ankara. I already have no security of life. I am anxious because I do not have security of life. He is a person who is unpredictable. When I went to the police station, the police told me, 'Download the KADES app to your phone, press it when you encounter him, and we will come wherever you are.' I want him to receive a sentence based on this defense. If I am under threat, if he is frightening a woman, I want him to receive a sentence," she expressed.
