Following the arrest of CHP's Esenyurt Mayor Ahmet Özer and the appointment of a trustee in his place, trustees were also appointed to the DEM Party-run municipalities of Mardin, Batman, and Halfeti.
Hürriyet columnist Abdulkadir Selvi, known for his proximity to the government, signaled that more trustees could be appointed by saying, "We might wake up to news of a new trustee every morning for a while," while it was claimed that a move regarding Şırnak had come from the AKP.
AKP Şırnak Deputy Arslan Tatar visited Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya and Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç.
Bingöl Deputy Zeki Korkutata, Adıyaman Deputy İshak Şan, Batman Deputy Ferhat Nasıroğlu, Aydın Deputy Mustafa Savaş, and Elâzığ Deputy Erol Keleş also attended the visit to the Interior Minister. Tatar visited the Justice Minister alone.
AKP DEPUTY ASKED MINISTERS TO APPOINT TRUSTEES TO 3 DEM PARTY MUNICIPALITIES
According to a report by Altan Sancar from Sözcü, AKP sources stated that during both visits, Tatar requested the appointment of trustees to the DEM Party-run municipalities in Cizre, Silopi, and İdil. Accordingly, Tatar, who claimed that the mayors "are supporting terrorism," asked both ministers to take action regarding the municipalities in question. Tatar argued that he was concerned about security problems in Şırnak if trustees were not appointed to the three municipalities.
Some AKP sources noted that during the same meetings, Tatar also expressed complaints and expectations regarding municipalities from his own party. So much so that some AKP members stated that claims had reached them that a trustee or a new appointment was requested for Şırnak.
