TKP responds to the Ministry: 'We need a Turkey without NATO'

The Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) has published a statement titled "We Need a Turkey Without NATO," responding to the message shared by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the 73rd anniversary of Turkey's accession to NATO.

In the statement made on the party's website, in response to the Ministry's remarks that the country "continues to contribute to international stability" within the framework of NATO, it was emphasized that "NATO means crisis, not stability; threat, not security."

In the TKP's statement, NATO's dirty record was recalled with the words "it was established in 1949 against the socialist world that defeated fascism, in line with the expansionist policies of US imperialism," and the interventions, plots, and manipulations through which NATO has violated the sovereign rights of countries from the past to the present were addressed.

The full text of the TKP's statement is as follows:

"We Need a Turkey Without NATO

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs published a statement today on the occasion of the 73rd anniversary of our country's accession to NATO.

The statement claims that at a time when the future of Euro-Atlantic security is being shaped, Turkey continues to contribute to international stability today, just as it has in the past, together with its allies.

Well, is that really the case?

Does NATO provide international security, and does Turkey contribute to this as a NATO member, is that so?

We can also ask the question this way:

Is NATO an organization that brings stability to countries in trouble, to their peoples and working classes, or is it a criminal organization?

Countless examples from the past and present prove that NATO means crisis, not stability; threat, not security.

NATO was established in 1949 against the socialist world that defeated fascism, in line with the expansionist policies of US imperialism. Since that date, it has intervened from within and from without in the organized struggles that working classes have entered for their liberation in many countries.

It has violated the sovereign rights of countries. It has plotted coups, organized assassinations, and directed drug trafficking. It has operated as a war machine, sometimes armed and sometimes political and ideological, for the interests of international monopolies and the capitalist classes of countries.

NATO did not pause its aggression after the Soviet Union collapsed. It tore Yugoslavia apart; it occupied Afghanistan, Iraq, and Libya.

It caused the loss of many lives in the operations it carried out all over the world. Finally, it openly supported Israel's massacres in Palestine and became an important actor in the international operation that caused the disintegration of Syria.

For this reason, NATO is a criminal organization and an international security problem.

NATO is also a security problem for Turkey. All military bases on our soil, especially the Incirlik base, and the weapons and soldiers here are the most concrete manifestation of this threat.

NATO must be opposed. The legitimacy of NATO must be questioned. We must withdraw from NATO.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs may be proud of its 73-year NATO membership. However, the time our country has been a member of this criminal organization, which protects the interests of monopolies, big bosses, and imperialist centers, has been far too long.

Our party does not just oppose NATO; it is fighting continuously for it to get out of these lands.

We will definitely have a Turkey without NATO.

A Turkey that is far from the intervention of imperialists, that is not part of their operations, and that brings peace, friendship, and equality to the working classes of the region will definitely be without NATO."
