TKP warns 'the danger is growing' regarding the 'Terror-Free Turkey' commission: 'Do not fall into the trap'

In a statement released following its latest Central Committee meeting, the TKP stated that Turkey's problems cannot be delegated to a commission, adding, "The danger is growing."

The TKP's statement, titled "Turkey's Issues Cannot Be Delegated to a Commission! The Danger Is Growing," is as follows:

1. It has become clear that the "new solution process," which the government insists on addressing under the title of "Terror-Free Turkey" but which everyone, especially the stakeholders of the process, calls by different names, is not being conducted within a planning and target framework agreed upon by all elements of the government, and in this sense, one cannot speak of a unified state rationale. The process is developing in a way that is open to the interventions and initiatives of international powers such as the UK, Israel, the US, and France, alongside what is happening in Syria and the entire region. It is also observed that there is no holistic approach regarding the PKK, DEM, Imrali, or the SDF/PYD.

2. Regardless of its content and direction, in a region where new conflict dynamics are constantly emerging, the lack of planning and confusion in an initiative announced with grand rhetoric by the authority governing a country of Turkey's size is a great danger for our country and our people. Our party has been saying for years that the most obvious example of this confusion is the clear contradiction between the goal of "Syria's territorial integrity" and the Syria policies that have been implemented for the last 15 years. However, this confusion has turned into madness with the claim that Syria's territorial integrity can be ensured by bowing to the jihadist organization led by Al-Julani. Al-Julani is the man of Israel, the UK, and the US. No matter how he is washed or polished, the fact that he is a criminal does not change, and new crimes are being added to these. The government is vouching for Al-Julani and is essentially saying, "He is our man too."

3. Let us say it clearly: No one living in Syria would entrust their future to Al-Julani. HTS, which has captured Damascus today, cannot offer a future to anyone, whether they are Sunni, Alawite, Kurdish, or Druze. Furthermore, Al-Julani and his organization do not have the power to govern Syria. The government taking steps to bring Syrians into line alongside Al-Julani's gangs—which Israel uses as an excuse to establish itself in Syria—serves no purpose other than helping certain circles in their quest to question the legitimacy of the Republic of Turkey, especially in light of recent developments. Moreover, fantastic ideas like acting together with the US to thwart Israeli plans, which have recently begun to be touted as a feat, mean nothing other than setting our people on fire.

"FOREIGN POLICY PRESENTS A PATCHWORK IMAGE"

4. For years, the AKP has criticized previous governments and the opposition CHP for advocating a cowardly foreign policy approach. The TKP is not here to defend the foreign policy line of former governments or the CHP. However, the foreign policy marketed today as "bold" and "interactive" is inconsistent, regardless of the content we have opposed from the beginning, and presents a patchwork image. So much so that the government, which is preparing for an arm-wrestling match with Israel in Syria, has forgotten about Gaza, which is on the verge of extinction, even in rhetoric.

5. There can be no foreign policy independent of domestic policy. The inconsistencies in the AKP's foreign policy stem from its domestic policy preferences. In this sense, the domestic policy goals of the 'solution process' are also unclear. Additionally, the management crisis manifests itself in this issue as well and is deepening further. There is no 'Kurdish issue' or 'terror issue' in Turkey that is separate and independent from other matters. A capitalist exploitation order that brings our country to the brink of extinction and strips our people of their desire to live, a political structure where religious sects declare their dominance and the Republic and secularism face systematic attacks, and an international positioning based on bloody collaborations, dirty bargaining, and competition within the imperialist system have no chance of solving any problem. Our people must unite around a program that does not push aside even one of these fundamental issues we have listed. One cannot be pro-market yet democratic, secular yet pro-NATO, pro-American yet libertarian; it is impossible!

"WE OBJECT TO THE ORDER THAT DRAGS US INTO DISASTER"

6. For this reason, we reject the questions 'Are you for or against the solution?' and 'Do you want peace or not?' We want to solve every problem, and of course, we want peace. But we have no intention of accepting the pro-NATO solutions presented to us, the intentions to question the Treaty of Lausanne and the Republic, the neo-Ottoman project, a political system based on ethnic identities, or the marketing of the idea of the 'ummah.' We are not objecting to everything. We are objecting to an order that drags our country and our people into disaster, and to its politicians and policies.

"THE COMMISSION TRAP MUST NOT BE FALLEN INTO"

7. The establishment of commissions regarding the solution process and, in connection with it, the New Constitution, becomes even more bizarre when it is unclear what the parties, especially the government, are saying about the matter. The TKP has repeatedly emphasized that this government lacks the legitimacy to draft a constitution. On the other hand, we advocate for all issues in Turkey to be discussed in front of the public. However, it cannot be done with a 'let's discuss' approach. No discussion is real unless the parties express their proposals openly, rather than behind closed doors or with vague or contradictory statements. This is a trap. In this sense, the commission trap must not be fallen into. All parties must explain their thoughts on the country's fundamental issues, and of course on the 'solution process,' to our people and demonstrate them concretely. Saying 'these issues need to be discussed' means nothing more than deceiving the public. You cannot run from the people. Last month, we directed simple questions to political parties regarding NATO membership, one of Turkey's important issues. The only response is silence. Because they cannot face the public and say, 'We cannot give up on NATO.' They are ashamed of their preferences. From the government to the opposition, the politics of the establishment in Turkey is unprincipled, cowardly, and inconsistent. That is why they refer everything to a commission. The TKP condemns this commission politics and calls on our people to take a stand against the thoughtlessness that leaves our country's future to the interests and mercy of holdings, religious sects, NATO, and imperialist countries.
