Torture at disability care center: 10-year-old child dies! Niğde Governor's Office issues statement on the scandal
In a statement regarding the torture incident at the disability care home, the Niğde Governor's Office stated, "16 personnel working at the care center have been suspended from duty, and a criminal complaint has been filed with the Niğde Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. Judicial proceedings have been initiated against 26 care staff identified as having committed similar acts during the judicial investigation process; 14 of these individuals have been arrested, while 12 have been released pending trial."

The Niğde Governor's Office has announced that 14 out of 26 care staff members, against whom judicial proceedings were initiated for mistreatment and violation of privacy regarding 15 children and one adult with disabilities receiving services at the Niğde Barrier-Free Life Care, Rehabilitation and Family Counseling Center, as well as the 10-year-old disabled child who lost his life, have been arrested.
In a written statement from the Governor's Office, it was recalled that on July 22, 2024, around 20:00, a male child named M.Ç., whose health condition deteriorated, was transferred to the hospital by 112 Emergency Health teams but could not be saved despite interventions and passed away around 22:00.
The statement noted that M.Ç.'s autopsy report determined that he died as a result of epilepsy and developing complications, and that there was no traumatic impact. The following was recorded:
"Following this distressing incident, our Governor's Office appointed an investigator to determine whether there was any negligence in the care process of our child named M.Ç. and to examine the matter in detail; an administrative process was initiated by requesting inspectors from the Ministry of Family and Social Services Guidance and Inspection Presidency.
By examining the center's past security camera footage, negligence of duty, mistreatment, and privacy violations were identified against the deceased child and 15 of our children and 1 adult disabled citizen receiving services at the aforementioned care center.
