Trabzon bids farewell to its 23-year-old martyr with prayers

Infantry Specialist Corporal Berat Mecit Day (23) was severely wounded on April 22 as a result of a drone attack by terrorists in the Operation Claw-Lock region. Day, who was receiving treatment at the Işıklı Field Hospital, passed away yesterday. While the martyr's body was brought to Trabzon by a military aircraft from Şırnak Şerafettin Elçi Airport yesterday, a military ceremony was held today in the courtyard of the İskenderpaşa Mosque in the city center. The ceremony was attended by Trabzon Governor Aziz Yıldırım, Trabzon Provincial Gendarmerie Commander Brigadier General Bahittin Murat Yakın, Trabzon Police Chief Murat Esertürk, AKP Trabzon deputies, Anahtar Party Chairman Yavuz Ağıralioğlu, the martyr's father Mecit Day, the martyr's comrades-in-arms, relatives, and military and civil officials.

It was learned that the martyr, Infantry Specialist Corporal Berat Mecit Day, was single and had been serving in the military for approximately 8 months. Following the military ceremony and the funeral prayer held after the noon prayer, he was laid to rest in the family cemetery in the village of Barışlı in the Maçka district.
