Traffic congestion in Istanbul reaches 90 percent

Traffic congestion in Istanbul reached 87 percent due to the impact of intermittent rainfall in some regions and the end of the workday. On the fourth business day of the week, following the end of office hours, traffic congestion is being experienced on both sides of the city, particularly on certain sections of the D-100 highway and the TEM Motorway, as well as on main arteries and streets. With the effect of the intermittent downpours in the city, traffic density reached 87 percent as of 17:30, according to data from the IMM Cep Trafik application.

On the Anatolian side, traffic is moving slowly in both directions on the D-100 highway in the Kadıköy-Kartal direction. Congestion is also observed in some parts of Pendik and Tuzla. Traffic is moving slowly on the Üsküdar and Ümraniye sections of the Şile Highway, and between Ataşehir and Sancaktepe on the TEM Motorway.

Traffic congestion heading toward the European side in the direction of the 15 July Martyrs Bridge begins at Uzunçayır. Vehicles are struggling to move in both directions between the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge and Ataşehir. Traffic congestion is also observed on some main arteries in the region, as well as on the coastal road and TEM connecting roads.

On the European side, traffic is heavy on the D-100 highway in the Küçükçekmece area in the direction of Edirne, while traffic is flowing smoothly in the direction of Ankara. Drivers are having difficulty moving in both directions in the Cevizlibağ area.

While traffic congestion is observed between Avcılar and TÜYAP in the direction of Edirne, vehicle density is also increasing at the D-100 highway location in Beylikdüzü Square. While traffic is flowing smoothly on the TEM connection road in the Esenyurt, Bahçeşehir, and Haramidere areas, there is congestion in the direction of Ankara at the Esenyurt and Mahmutbey toll booths. Drivers are trying to proceed with caution due to the intermittent rainfall.
