Tragedy in a school canteen in Giresun: Security guard kills two sisters

In an incident that occurred yesterday morning at a high school in the Aksu neighborhood of Giresun, 53-year-old Abdullah Turan, who had been hired as a private security guard at the school after being released from prison under Decree-Law No. 696, began arguing in the school canteen with 30-year-old Yonca Çavuş, who worked as a cleaner. Yonca Çavuş’s sister, Rana Çavuş Gökçin (26), also joined the argument.
As the argument escalated, Turan opened fire on the two sisters with a handgun he was carrying. The sisters were struck by the bullets and collapsed, while the attacker fled the school.
YONCA DIED AT THE SCENE, RANA AT THE HOSPITAL
Upon notification, medical and police teams were dispatched to the scene. Medical personnel determined that Yonca Çavuş had died at the scene. Rana Çavuş Gökçin, who was critically injured, was taken by ambulance to Giresun Training and Research Hospital. Despite all interventions, Gökçin could not be saved after being taken into surgery.
EDUCATION SUSPENDED, SUSPECT APPREHENDED
Following the murder of the two women, education at the school was suspended, and the perpetrator of the incident, Abdullah Turan, was apprehended by police teams in a short time.
HE CLAIMED THERE WAS A "DEBT," HE WAS ARRESTED
Turan, who was taken into custody, claimed in his statement at the police station that there was a "debt dispute" between him and the two sisters and that the argument had broken out for this reason. Abdullah Turan, who was referred to the courthouse after his procedures, was arrested by the duty magistrate's court on charges of "intentional homicide."

It was learned that Yonca Çavuş, who had divorced her husband some time ago, was a mother of two children, one of whom was disabled, and that her sister, Rana Çavuş Gökçin, was preparing to hold a wedding in one month with her husband, non-commissioned officer Yusuf Gökçin.
