Tragic accident at a construction site in Istanbul: '2 workers seriously injured'

A major accident occurred at a construction site in Arnavutköy, Istanbul, when a tower crane collapsed. The crane operator and a construction worker, who were trapped under the massive collapsed crane, were rescued through the intensive efforts of fire department teams and construction machinery at the site, and were rushed to the hospital with serious injuries.

The incident took place in the morning hours at a construction site operating on Fahri Korutürk Street in the Sazlıbosna neighborhood of Arnavutköy. While work was underway at the site, the tower crane suddenly collapsed for reasons yet to be determined.

Construction machinery and fire crews raced against time

As the crane collapsed with a loud noise, worker Adem Avcı, who was working on the ground at the time, and crane operator Şerafettin Akın were trapped under the tons of twisted metal. Upon the notification of other site workers who witnessed the accident, police, medical, and fire teams were quickly dispatched to the scene.

Fire crews arriving at the scene raced against time to rescue the workers trapped under the crane, utilizing an excavator found at the site. The two injured individuals, who were pulled from under the crane through the joint efforts of the construction machinery and the teams, received their first medical intervention from the paramedics waiting on-site.

Condition of the injured remains critical

It was learned that crane operator Şerafettin Akın and worker Adem Avcı, who were rushed to the hospital by ambulance, are still undergoing treatment, but their lives remain in danger and their health condition remains critical.

Following the tragic accident, which was also captured on the mobile phone cameras of citizens in the vicinity, police teams increased security measures at the construction site and launched a comprehensive investigation into the incident.
