Tragic news from the flood disaster in Antalya! One person found dead

One person has lost their life in the flood disaster in Antalya, which has been hit by heavy rainfall. The lifeless body of 47-year-old Halil Yıldız was found in an underpass in Kepez. Meanwhile, due to adverse weather conditions, education has been suspended for another day in the Kepez, Konyaaltı, and Muratpaşa districts.

The lifeless body of 47-year-old Halil Yıldız was found in a car in the Gıyaseddin Keyhüsrev Underpass on Gazi Boulevard in the Kepez district.

"THOSE WITHOUT URGENT BUSINESS SHOULD NOT GO OUT"

Making the first statement following the disaster, Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Muhittin Böcek said, "This is an unprecedented rainfall that began yesterday evening and later intensified. Over 300 kilograms of rain per square meter have fallen. We are responding to the rainfall with 1,450 personnel, including the fire department and ASAT, along with 290 vehicles. We have evacuated our citizens from over 900 vehicles. Now, evacuation operations are being carried out in homes and buildings. We are doing our best together with the Antalya Governorship, AFAD, district municipalities, and all institutions and organizations. I request that our citizens who do not have urgent business do not leave their homes."

SECOND WARNING FROM AFAD

On the other hand, in a second statement made by AFAD during the day, it was said, "According to the Meteorology, heavy rainfall in Antalya is expected to continue intermittently until tomorrow morning. Be cautious against floods, lightning, hail, and sudden winds."

YERLİKAYA: 20 MILLION LIRA EMERGENCY AID ALLOCATION SENT

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced in a statement regarding the flood disaster in Antalya that an emergency aid allocation of 20 million lira has been sent to the Antalya Governorship.

Yerlikaya announced that 989 citizens have been evacuated.

Minister Yerlikaya stated in a post on the social media platform X that 248 personnel, 63 vehicles, 24 motor pumps, and 13 divers have been assigned to the region to combat the flooding caused by heavy rains in Antalya.

Reporting that Deputy Interior Minister Münir Karaloğlu, the AFAD Vice President, and the General Manager of Disaster Response have arrived in Antalya, Yerlikaya noted the following:

"989 of our citizens have been evacuated. In the first stage, 20 million lira in emergency aid was sent to our Antalya Governorship. I convey my best wishes to our Antalya and our citizens negatively affected by the flood. Our General Directorate of Meteorology has issued an orange alert for 3 of our provinces: Antalya, Burdur, and Isparta. I strongly request our citizens to follow the warnings of the General Directorate of Meteorology and AFAD moment by moment. May God protect our country and our nation from all kinds of disasters."
