Trial begins for 4 police officers accused of leaking information to FETÖ fugitive Cevheri Güven: 'Kaplan's hearing was monitored and information was leaked'

The trial of 4 police officers, one of whom is in custody, accused of leaking information and documents to fugitive FETÖ member Cevheri Güven, has begun at the Ankara 17th High Criminal Court. During the hearing, significant developments occurred regarding the defendants' statements and the right to participate requested by their lawyers.

KAPLAN'S HEARING WAS MONITORED AND INFORMATION WAS LEAKED

According to journalist and 12punto columnist Müyesser Yıldız,Ayhan Bora Kaplan's lawyer requested to participate in the case, alleging that Kaplan's hearing was monitored by police officers and that information was being funneled to Cevheri Güven during this time. The court rejected Kaplan's request to participate in the case.

STRIKING DEFENSE FROM SERKAN DİNÇER 

Detained defendant and Narcotics Branch police officer Serkan Dinçer made striking statements during the hearing. Dinçer stated that his reference was Ankara Police Chief Dinç, and claimed that he was subjected to physical torture for 4 days while in custody and was forced to testify that members of the Nurcu-Meşveret group within the Police Department were FETÖ members.

Dinçer rejected the accusation, saying, "I do not accept the charge of leaking information to FETÖ members. There is no need for them to get information from me; their own people are already working." He also added that he is affiliated with the Meşveret group of the Nurcus and that he did not hide this situation.

Serkan Dinçer also made an interesting claim about the prosecutor who prepared the indictment. Dinçer alleged a connection with the prosecutor, saying, "There is a director named K.A. who was dismissed from FETÖ and has a criminal record. K.A. visits the prosecutor and posts a story saying 'the coffee was delicious.' What kind of relationship does a person with a criminal record like K.A. have with the prosecutor for this to happen?"

DINÇER'S JULY 15 ALLEGATIONS  

Serkan Dinçer stated that during the July 15 coup attempt, he went to the TRT building with the then-Head of the EGM Intelligence Department, Engin Dinç, to neutralize the coup plotters, and that he also voluntarily served as a bodyguard and companion at the hospital for TEM Department Head Turgut Arslan, who was shot by the coup plotters. Dinçer said, "While even his own family did not go to see TEM Department Head Turgut Arslan, who was shot by the coup plotters, I became his volunteer bodyguard and companion at the hospital."
