TRT Nicosia representative Sefa Karahasan has been arrested on the grounds that the doctoral diploma he received from the Cyprus Health and Social Sciences University is fake.
According to a report by Bugün Kıbrıs, Karahasan was summoned to give a statement in the TRNC today. Karahasan, whose phone and digital materials were seized, was arrested following his statement.
The TRT representative is expected to be brought to court tomorrow morning.
Accordingly, a letter was sent to the headquarters on April 18 for Karahasan's employment with TRT to be terminated due to 'forgery of documents'.
The report stated that high-level officials from Turkey have intervened for Karahasan's release.
