Truck driver who crushed 14 vehicles kills 1 police officer
On the Asian side of Istanbul, a driver who ignored a police "stop" order and drove a stolen truck crushed a total of 14 vehicles, including two police cars. One police officer has died.

The intoxicated driver, Sezgin A., stole an excavation truck in the Sancaktepe district and, traveling at 150 km/h, crushed and passed through many vehicles, including police cars.
Two police officers were seriously injured in the incident, and many citizens also sustained minor injuries. The intoxicated truck driver, Sezgin A., who fled the scene, was captured in the Ataşehir district following efforts by police teams.
POLICE OFFICER HAS DIED
The Maltepe District Police Department announced in a written statement that the police officer who was seriously injured, Lütfü Baykar, has died.

''Our police officer Lütfü BAYKAR, serving in the Maltepe District Police Department, was seriously injured as a result of being struck by an excavation truck during a routine check conducted under the Maltepe-Büyükyalı Bridge on 20.10.2023.
Our police officer, whose treatment continued in the intensive care unit, could not be saved despite all interventions and died on Sunday, 12.11.2023.
A farewell ceremony will be held for our fallen police officer Lütfü BAYKAR on Monday, 13.11.2023, at 09:00 at the Istanbul Police Department Vatan Campus. Following the farewell ceremony, our martyr's body will be sent to his hometown of Adilcevaz, Bitlis.
Our fallen police officer was married and a father of two children.
