In an accident that occurred in Hatay last week, a sand-laden dump truck crushed 9 vehicles and injured 5 people due to a failure in its braking system. Strict inspections have begun following the accident.

Last Sunday, in the Harbiye neighborhood of the Defne district, a Mercedes-Benz brand sand-laden dump truck, which experienced a failure in its braking system, struck a total of 9 vehicles, both moving and parked. 5 citizens who were in the vehicles that were totaled in the accident were injured.
While the scene turned into a battlefield after the horrific accident, footage of the moment the vehicles were crushed like paper has emerged.
In the footage, it was seen that the dump truck literally mowed down the parked and moving vehicles.
The Hatay Governor's Office has launched strict inspections to prevent heavy-tonnage vehicles from using streets and avenues that are closed to such traffic, following the frequent truck and lorry accidents in the region.

Tradesman Tuncay Demirel, who was caught in the accident at his workplace, stated that his shop was damaged and said, “In the dump truck accident that happened last Sunday, my father and I cheated death at our current workplace; we survived by a narrow margin of just 2 steps. We suffered significant material and moral damage here. Our workplace sustained approximately 200 thousand TL in damages. We want our losses to be covered by the company. God protected us; a major catastrophe was averted. As a people who have experienced a major earthquake here, we almost experienced a second one. 9 vehicles were totaled, the sound of the accident was terrible,” he said.
