Trump departs for Ankara for NATO Summit

US President Donald Trump has departed from the US state of Maryland for Ankara aboard Air Force One for meetings to be held as part of the 36th NATO Summit of Heads of State and Government.

Trump set off for Turkey from Joint Base Andrews in Maryland on the presidential aircraft, Air Force One. He is expected to meet with various leaders in Ankara as part of the two-day NATO Summit.

The White House shared Trump's schedule for the 36th NATO Summit of Heads of State and Government, which will be hosted by Ankara.

According to the program, Trump is scheduled to be welcomed by AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan with an official ceremony in the afternoon. Following the welcoming ceremony, he is expected to hold a one-on-one meeting with Erdoğan at 3:00 PM, followed by delegation-level talks.

WILL NOT VISIT ANITKABIR

It was expected that US President Donald Trump would visit Anıtkabir during his Ankara visit for the NATO Summit. However, the current program shared by the White House does not include any information regarding a visit to Anıtkabir.

WILL HOLD BILATERAL MEETINGS WITH LEADERS

After attending the official NATO welcoming ceremony and the family photo session on Wednesday, Trump will participate in the NATO Leaders' Working Meeting.

The US President is scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Syrian President Ahmet Şara on the same day in the afternoon.

Trump is expected to depart Turkey following a press conference to be held after the conclusion of his meetings in Ankara.
