As part of the ceasefire agreement reached between Israel and Hamas, the Israeli side released 20 hostages, while the Palestinian side released 1,966 prisoners.

While the prisoner exchange was ongoing, U.S. President Donald Trump traveled to Israel for official meetings and delivered a speech at the parliament (Knesset).

Trump began his speech by asking for applause for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and thanked his special envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff.

However, during the speech, representatives of the left wing, Hadash Party lawmakers Ofer Cassif and Ayman Odeh, staged a protest by chanting 'Recognize Palestine'.

According to the Haaretz newspaper, the lawmakers also unfurled banners reading 'Recognize Palestine'.

The Jerusalem Post (JP) reported that one of the banners contained the word 'genocide' and that the two lawmakers shouted 'terrorist' at Trump.

'THERE ARE TWO PEOPLES HERE'

Lawmaker Ayman Odeh made the following statement on his social media account following the incident:

"I was expelled from the general assembly for voicing only the simplest demand, a demand on which the entire international community agrees: Recognize the Palestinian state. Recognize this simple truth: There are two peoples here, and no one is leaving."

"THE HISTORIC DAWN OF A NEW MIDDLE EAST"

Trump wrote the following note in the parliament's guestbook:

"A great honor for me, a wonderful and great day, a new beginning."

In a statement to the press, the US President said, "The war is over. Hamas will comply with the disarmament plan."

Trump was greeted with great applause in the Israeli parliament. Netanyahu was also applauded, but lawmakers on the opposition benches refused to stand.

"This is the historic dawn of a new Middle East. An incredible victory for Israel and the world," Trump said, continuing his remarks:

"America is with you with these two eternal vows: Never forget and never again."

Israel has achieved everything that could be won through armed forces. From Gaza to Iran, this burning hatred has only brought misery, suffering, and failure. The entire focus of Gazans must shift toward rebuilding the foundations of stability, security, dignity, and economic development.
