Retired Brigadier General and strategist Dr. Naim Babüroğlu has revealed the primary motivation behind the military operation launched by the US against Venezuela. Babüroğlu stated that Washington's intervention in the region is far from the claim of "bringing democracy" and is entirely aimed at controlling strategic underground resources.

'PRIMARY TARGET: STRATEGIC RAW MATERIALS'

Drawing attention to the economic interests at the center of US policy in Latin America, Babüroğlu said:

"The US goal is certainly not 'democracy'; it is to control oil, lithium, gold, and rare earth minerals. Venezuela, which possesses the largest oil reserves and key strategic resources, was therefore the primary target."

NATIONAL SECURITY DOCUMENT HAD POINTED TO IT

Emphasizing that the operation was not a coincidence and had been planned for a long time, Babüroğlu reminded that the basis for the attack was contained in official US documents. According to Babüroğlu, it was clearly stated in the US National Security Strategy document that Venezuela would be targeted.

The New Monroe Doctrine announced with this document defines South America as an area of absolute US sovereignty, while also making the control of energy and mineral resources in the region a priority national interest for Washington.

WHICH RESOURCES ARE TARGETED?

The resources highlighted by Babüroğlu are of vital importance for modern industry and energy transition:

Oil: Venezuela has the largest proven reserves in the world.

Lithium: Known as "white gold" and indispensable for battery technology.

Rare Earth Minerals: A fundamental component of the defense industry and high-tech production.
