Trustee takes office, first resignations arrive from Şişli Municipality

Following the appointment of a trustee to the Şişli Municipality, deputy mayors Ozan Özgür Doğru and Fatma Özlem İzol have resigned from their posts. As the first post from the trustee administration, led by Şişli District Governor Cevdet Ertürkmen, was shared, it was observed that a photograph of AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan had been hung in the mayor's office.

Following the arrest of Şişli Mayor Resul Emrah Şahan as part of a "city consensus" investigation, Şişli District Governor Cevdet Ertürkmen was appointed as a trustee.

In a statement regarding the matter, the Ministry of Interior stated that Şişli Mayor Resul Emrah Şahan, who was arrested on charges of "aiding the PKK/KCK terrorist organization," was removed from office as a "temporary measure" based on Article 127 of the Constitution and Article 47 of the Municipal Law.

RESIGNATIONS FOLLOW TRUSTEE APPOINTMENT

Following the start of the trustee administration at Şişli Municipality, Resul Emrah Şahan's deputies Ozan Özgür Doğru and Fatma Özlem İzol announced their resignations from their posts.

FIRST POST FROM THE TRUSTEE ADMINISTRATION

Meanwhile, the trustee administration appointed to the Şişli Municipality made its first post from the municipality's social media account. The post stated, "Mr. Cevdet ERTÜRKMEN has begun his duties as the Acting Mayor of Şişli."

 

It was observed that the large portrait of Atatürk that previously hung in the mayor's office had been removed and replaced with a different photograph of Atatürk. Furthermore, a photograph of AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan was hung next to the portrait of Atatürk.
