Tuğrul Türkeş, Head of the Turkish Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) and AKP MP, visited the Gezi Park trial convicts, including Osman Kavala, Can Atalay, Çiğdem Mater, and Tayfun Kahraman, in prison.
In recent days, Tuğrul Türkeş—the son of MHP founder Alparslan Türkeş and an AKP Ankara MP—had criticized Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç, stating that he had submitted a request to the Ministry of Justice to meet with businessman Osman Kavala, who was sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment in the Gezi trial, as well as Mine Özerden, Çiğdem Mater, Can Atalay, and Tayfun Kahraman, who were each sentenced to 18 years in prison, but had received no response despite a week passing since his request.
Following the Ministry's granting of the visit permit, Türkeş's long-awaited meeting took place.
TÜRKEŞ ANNOUNCED THAT HE HAD COMPLETED THE VISIT IN QUESTION WITH THE FOLLOWING POST:
