TÜGVA contract cancelled at Kastamonu Municipality, which passed from MHP to CHP: A message on July 15!

In the Kastamonu Municipality, which passed from the MHP to the CHP, Mayor Hasan Baltacı announced that the contract for the 'Çadır Kafe' (Tent Cafe) allocated to TÜGVA in the city has been cancelled by the municipal council. Baltacı had previously stated that municipal cafes were allocated to the Ülkü Ocakları (Grey Wolves) without proper authorization during the previous term and operated at a low rent, and that 30 million liras were paid to media outlets close to the MHP.

An important decision was made during the 1st Session of the Kastamonu Municipality May Municipal Council Meeting.

With the decision taken by the municipal council, the contract for the Turkey Youth Foundation (TÜGVA) Çadır Kafe/Library located in the Kuzeykent neighborhood was cancelled by majority vote, despite objections from the AKP group.

"THE RESULT WAS JULY 15"

President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's son Bilal Erdoğan's leadership of TÜGVA was defended by an AKP council member who said, "These are organizations working for the public good," to which Mayor Baltacı gave the following response:

"Those who want to work for the public good should, if they please, work for the public good with their own resources, not by using public property and public tax exemptions. I studied in a state-funded boarding school. Whenever the state withdrew from education, it filled those areas with religious communities and sects, and the result was July 15. Institutions like TÜGVA and TÜRGEV are not organizations working for the public good, but structures that exploit municipalities to spread a political ideology."

Baltacı said, "We will continue to protect the property and assets of Kastamonu and our municipality. We will not allow the rights of our fellow citizens to be used for the benefit of individuals, foundations, and a few interest groups. From now on, we will serve the interests of the public; those who want to invest in education should go to the Ministry of National Education."

With the March 31 Local Elections, the administration of the Kastamonu Municipality passed from the MHP to the CHP. CHP candidate Hasan Baltacı became the city's new mayor by receiving 48.98 percent of the vote.

THEY ONLY PAID 225 LIRAS A MONTH!

Kastamonu Mayor Hasan Baltacı also gave examples of irregular allocations made for the MHP's youth organization, the Ülkü Ocakları, during the previous administration: 

"There is a cafe belonging to the municipality in the park across from the bus terminal. The Ülkü Ocakları operated this cafe as an occupier without any allocation. They only paid 225 TL in monthly occupation fees (ecrimisil) for this place. It didn't end there; the municipality even paid the natural gas bill for a place being used by an occupier."

30 MILLION LIRAS FLOWED TO MHP-LINKED PUBLICATIONS... 

Kastamonu Mayor Hasan Baltacı also disclosed the resources transferred from the budget to media outlets close to the MHP during the previous municipal term. 

Baltacı included the following statements in his explanation:

"We had stated that we would bring financial discipline to the Kastamonu Municipality budget, that we would manage the budget in the most effective way, and that we would share the wastefulness of the past with the public, as well as take necessary austerity measures in the Kastamonu Municipality budget from now on. In this regard, we have shared some of the steps we have taken with the public via social media. But I want to give a few examples. During this period, 739 thousand 183 TL was paid to Bengütürk TV by the Kastamonu Municipality. Considering the stage technology and social media have reached, we, as the Kastamonu Municipality, paid exactly 739 thousand liras to Bengütürk TV for work you could do with a single camera in your hand. What else did we do? There is an agency called Türk Gün. A subscription was taken out for Gün newspaper, and the Kastamonu Municipality transferred 461 thousand 685 TL in resources. We will use our resources much more effectively in the coming period. We have graphic designers here, our press unit, and various facilities. But a total of 28 million 349 thousand 77 TL in advertising expenses was made to an advertising company called Fikri Alem operating in Ankara. We will share with the public the details of what these advertising expenses were for once we examine them. We are obligated to protect the property and assets of Kastamonu."
