TÜİK has released the labor force report for March 2026. According to the data, while the narrow-defined unemployment rate decreased, the broad-defined unemployment rate reached a historic high.

According to the data released by TÜİK (Turkish Statistical Institute), the broad-defined unemployment rate rose to 31.5 percent. Narrow-defined unemployment, meanwhile, fell by 0.3 percentage points to 8.1 percent.

According to the results of TÜİK's household labor force survey, the unemployment rate stood at 8.1 percent. The unemployment rate was estimated at 6.8 percent for men and 10.7 percent for women.

The number of unemployed persons had increased by 133 thousand in February, with the rate rising to 8.5 percent. The broad-defined unemployment (idle labor force) rate had been announced as 29.9 percent.
