Journalist Barış Yarkadaş claimed that former İzmir Mayor Tunç Soyer is preparing to run for the CHP chairmanship.
Yarkadaş, speaking on a program he attended on TV100, said the following:
"There is someone considering a candidacy for the CHP chairmanship: former İzmir Mayor Tunç Soyer. Soyer will meet with Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu in Ankara in the coming days. Afterward, he will request an appointment from Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu and will meet with him as well.
Tunç Soyer was actually thinking about this even before the 2023 elections. He wanted to become the CHP chairman if Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu had been elected president. What is currently being discussed in CHP circles is that Tunç Soyer will be working toward a CHP chairmanship candidacy in the upcoming period."
