Tunç Soyer responded to 'candidacy' claims
Former İzmir Metropolitan Municipality (İzBB) Mayor Tunç Soyer denied claims of his candidacy for the CHP chairmanship in a statement he made on KRT.
Soyer announced that he will be a candidate for the Party Assembly (PM) at the extraordinary congress his party will hold on April 6.
Soyer stated the following:
"I am a candidate for the Party Assembly at the congress; I am not a candidate for the chairmanship. Delegates asked me to run, and I could not remain indifferent.
I do not think there is a problem with the chairman in the CHP right now, but I think the PM needs to be expanded.
I believe that the CHP, as an alternative party to the government, needs to be expanded in a much more inclusive way."
Tunç Soyer added that some delegates had offered him a candidacy for the chairmanship, but he had expressed to the delegates that he did not find this appropriate.
