Tuncer Bakırhan speaks out: They have repeated the political genocide they committed 8 years ago on November 4

The Ministry of Interior has announced that it has appointed trustees to the DEM Party-run Mardin Metropolitan Municipality, Batman Municipality, and the Halfeti Municipality in Şanlıurfa.

Mardin Metropolitan Mayor Ahmet Türk, Batman Mayor Gülistan Sönük, and Halfeti Mayor Mehmet Karayılan have been removed from office. Mardin Governor Tuncay Akkoyun has been appointed as trustee to the Mardin Metropolitan Municipality, Batman Governor Ekrem Canalp to the Batman Municipality, and Halfeti District Governor Hakan Başoğlu to the Halfeti Municipality.

The removal of Mardin Metropolitan Mayor Ahmet Türk from office was justified by his 10-year prison sentence in the Kobani case and ongoing lawsuits and investigations against him. With the removal of Türk, Sönük, and Karayılan, the number of municipalities where trustees have been appointed since the March 31 local elections has risen to five.

'AKP RESIGN' SLOGANS

The area in front of the Mardin Municipality was active throughout the day. Following the announcement that CHP Chairman Özgür Özel would be arriving, the DEM Party also issued a call to gather in front of the municipality. The DEM Party also decided to hold its TBMM group meeting in front of the Mardin Municipality.

DEM Party Co-Chairs Tülay Hatimoğulları and Tuncer Bakırhan, along with DEM Party Erzurum MP Meral Danış Beştaş, former HDP Co-Chair Sebahat Tuncel, DBP Co-Chair Çiğdem Kılıçgün Uçar, and other members of parliament arrived in front of the municipality.

The people of Mardin also gathered in front of the municipality to protest the appointment of a trustee to the Mardin Metropolitan Municipality for the third time. Citizens chanted slogans such as "AKP resign" and "Trustee resign."

"WE WILL NOT ALLOW THOSE WHO DISREGARD YOUR WILL"

Addressing the citizens in front of the Mardin Municipality, DEM Party Co-Chair Bakırhan stated the following:

"On one hand, they created an expectation of a solution, they talked about a 'new process,' they talked about 'normalization,' but they have repeated the political genocide they committed exactly eight years ago today, on November 4. They are liars, they are hypocrites, they are two-faced. When they say 'solution,' we face oppression; when they say 'normalization,' we face trustees; when they say 'justice,' we face injustice. These liars, these deniers, these people who reject the peoples of Turkey think that we, the Kurds, will bow down to these trustee-appointers and liars.

Let them know very well that whatever Sheikh Said, Seyit Rıza, and the Denizes did, the Kurdish people and the peoples of Turkey will do the same. Neither their trustees, nor their policies of oppression, nor their lies, nor their tricks will bring us to our knees. As Seyit Rıza said, 'You cannot bring us to our knees.' Neither lies, nor deceit, nor oppression will ever be able to intimidate the Kurds in Mardin, Amed, or anywhere in the Kurdish geography.

You shameless people, you are appointing a trustee for the third term. This means your trustee policy has found no response among the Kurds; it means your policy of denial lost in the elections. Now you will try to usurp these places you lost in the elections through fraud and deceit.

We promise; we will never allow those who carry out a political coup, this trustee mentality, and those who disregard your will to pass. In the streets, in Parliament, and in every area of life, together with the laborers, the poor, and the oppressed, we will send this plunderous, war-loving trustee mentality away together."
