İYİ Party Balıkesir MP Turhan Çömez, who is known for his striking social media posts and for setting the agenda on various issues, has this time brought attention to and reacted to an act of disrespect that took place during an Atatürk commemoration ceremony at a university in Konya.

As he is a doctor himself and the incident occurred at a medical faculty, Çömez reacted more sternly, stating the following:

At the Konya Necmettin Erbakan University Faculty of Medicine, a student jumped onto the stage during the moment of silence at this morning's Atatürk commemoration ceremony, put his hand in his pocket, and began talking on the phone.

And he set out to prove his disrespect.

My son, you;

Do you not know the labor and effort of doctors in the founding of this country?

Do you not know that medical students went to the Gallipoli Campaign in 1915 and all of them were martyred, and that for this reason, there were no graduates in 1921?

Do you not know that Tıbbiyeli Hikmet hung the Turkish flag between the towers of the Faculty of Medicine during the years of occupation, lighting the fire of freedom, and that March 14 is celebrated as Medicine Day for this reason?

Why this anger, this hatred, this disrespect toward your Ancestor, who said, 'Entrust me to Turkish physicians'?
