Turkey, a country of Heimlich and volleyball: Waiter's quick intervention saves the day

In the Gölbaşı district of Adıyaman, an incident occurred yesterday evening at a tantuni restaurant on Atatürk Boulevard in Yenimahalle, where a customer began choking after a morsel of food got stuck in their throat while eating. When attempts by friends to help were insufficient, waiter Habip Korkmaz noticed the situation and intervened quickly.

Applying the Heimlich maneuver, Korkmaz was able to dislodge the food stuck in the throat by applying pressure to the customer. The customer began breathing again and felt relieved. Following the incident, the staff expressed great joy, and waiter Korkmaz's quick and effective intervention was met with appreciation.

After the incident, the customer, who left the establishment, expressed their gratitude, saying, "I was very scared at that moment, but I was saved thanks to the waiter. His quick intervention saved my life."

Doğukan Yetiş, one of the employees at the workplace, stated, "Our customer came in yesterday evening. At that moment, a piece of food got stuck in their throat. One of the friends with them tried to intervene but couldn't succeed. Then, our friend named Habip saved our customer with the Heimlich maneuver."

Following the event, the business owners and employees emphasized the importance of training for such emergencies, noting that learning the necessary intervention techniques is vital. The customer's recovery brought great relief to both the staff and other customers in the establishment.
