Efforts to combat forest fires that have broken out in different regions of Afyonkarahisar, Karabük, and İzmir are ongoing. The flames, growing due to the effect of the wind, are threatening residential and agricultural areas.

The fire, which started in Eskişehir and spread to the forested area between the villages of Sarıcaova and Alanlı in the İhsaniye district of Afyonkarahisar, could not be brought under control on its third day.

While the high parts of the mountains are being intervened with helicopters, forest workers and fire crews are responding to the fire on the slopes with water tenders and fire trucks. The flames, which rapidly changed direction due to the wind, have approached agricultural fields. Due to exploding pine cones, some of the agricultural fields have also been surrendered to the flames.

Dense smoke and wind occasionally make extinguishing efforts difficult, and teams have warned citizens in the region to move away. Forest workers, who have been working non-stop for 3 days, are meeting their food needs on top of the water tenders.

KARABÜK - 10 VILLAGES EVACUATED AS A PRECAUTION

Forest fires that broke out in the Safranbolu and Ovacık districts of Karabük continue on their second day. Ground interventions continued throughout the night for the fires that started at 14:42 in the Mezarlık location of Çavuşlar village in Safranbolu, and at 16:29 in the Merkez neighborhood of Kışla village in the Ovacık district.

The smoke density is quite high in the region where helicopters provided support during the day. Reinforcement teams have been dispatched to the areas where the fire has spread.

Karabük Governor Mustafa Yavuz announced that 10 villages in the central, Safranbolu, and Ovacık districts have been evacuated as a precaution.

İZMİR - AIR AND GROUND BATTLE IN GAZİEMİR

Air and ground interventions continue for the fire that broke out in a forested area in the Sarnıç neighborhood of İzmir's Gaziemir district. 4 planes, 10 helicopters, 20 water tenders, 7 water tankers, and 4 bulldozers were dispatched to the fire, which started around 16:00.

Aircraft intervened in the flames with water taken from the Sarnıç Pond and the Gulf of İzmir. It was reported that the flames were largely brought under control with the intense efforts of ground teams.
