Turkish citizen Cansu faces risk of death in Afghanistan: She asks for help in a video sent from a bathroom

Cansu Badur, who has been subjected to violence in Afghanistan, has still not been brought to Turkey following calls for help that were brought to public attention in April. In a new video sent to 12punto, Cansu, who has locked herself in a bathroom, is seen as the door to her shelter is being forced open. Cansu is facing a risk of death. 12punto calls on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Turkey's Kabul Embassy to take urgent action.

We brought the experiences of Turkish citizen Cansu Badur, who is being held against her will in Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan, to public attention on April 12, 2026. In the report we prepared by reaching out to Cansu and her family in Turkey, we conveyed the violence she was subjected to and the unsuccessful attempts to return to Turkey. Months have passed. Cansu could not be brought to Turkey; she is waiting for help to survive.

She went to get her money, she could not return

According to the account of her brother Alican Badur, who spoke to 12punto, Cansu met Abdul Varsi Ndori at the textile workshop where she worked in Sultangazi, Istanbul. Ndori borrowed 80 thousand liras left to Cansu by her father but did not pay it back. After he was deported from Turkey in 2022, he called Cansu to Afghanistan, saying he would give her the money.

Her family explained that after Cansu went to Kabul, she was forcibly married under pressure and violence from Ndori and his family, and subsequently could not leave the country.

She took refuge in the Embassy, was sent back from the airport

According to her brother, Cansu escaped from the house where she was subjected to violence in late February and took refuge in Turkey's Kabul Embassy. She was placed in a hotel and her return procedures were initiated. However, she could not use the plane ticket purchased for March 4, 2026, because the procedures were not completed.

When Cansu went to the airport again on March 6, she was prevented from leaving the country on the grounds that there was an exit ban due to a complaint by Ndori. According to the family's account, Taliban officials handed Cansu over to Ndori. Her brother said that after this, his sister's phone was broken, they could not reach her for a while, and the violence increased.

Contacts were established, Cansu's wait did not end

In the follow-up report we published on April 12, 2026, we reported that CHP Şanlıurfa Deputy Mahmut Tanal had met with Ministry of Foreign Affairs officials. We wrote that Kabul Embassy officials also called the family and informed them that contact had been established with the Afghan Ministry of Interior.

In our report dated April 13, 2026, based on our new interview with Cansu, we announced that Taliban officials had contacted her. However, after these contacts, Cansu's return to Turkey could not be secured.

Now the door of the bathroom she took refuge in is being forced

In the new video Cansu sent to 12punto, she is seen locking herself in the bathroom of the house to protect herself from violence. Ndori, on the other hand, is forcing the door to enter the bathroom where Cansu is located.

Cansu, who asked for help months ago, is trying to protect herself behind a locked door today. While waiting to return to Turkey, she is facing the risk of death.

Urgent intervention is needed for Cansu to survive

As 12punto, we call on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Turkey's Kabul Embassy to urgently deal with Cansu Badur's situation and fulfill their duties. We want immediate action to be taken to ensure Cansu's safety, to remove her from the house where she is subjected to violence, to get her to a safe place, and to ensure her return to Turkey.

Cansu's call for help must be heard before it turns into news of a death.
