Students gathered at Anıtpark for a rehearsal ahead of an event for which Düzce Municipality had applied to the Guinness World Records to create a Turkish flag and a map of Turkey with 8,181 students.

The event, which thousands of students attended, could not be carried out.

The record attempt was canceled after Düzce Municipality failed to provide proper guidance to the students who had been gathered in the square for 3 hours.

When students began throwing the models into the air, the models fell onto the students.

According to initial reports, 7 students were taken to hospitals by ambulance and 25 students were taken by teachers' vehicles, totaling 32 students hospitalized for treatment, while dozens of other students sustained minor injuries.
