Turkish investors to Egypt, refugees to Turkey: Harsh criticism of the AKP's economy from IYI Party's Turhan Çömez
IYI Party Group Deputy Chairman Turhan Çömez criticized Turkey's economic policies and the government's investment strategies, sharing striking data. According to Çömez's statement, the number of Turkish companies operating in Egypt has exceeded 1,700, and the total investment amount has reached 3.5 billion dollars.

Pointing out that 20 Turkish companies have invested in Egypt in the last 6 months, Çömez stated that 19 of these companies operate in the textile sector and 1 in the food sector.
Providing examples of investments in Egypt, Çömez emphasized that Ulusoy Tekstil, which will establish a yarn and spinning factory in the Suez Canal Economic Zone, will provide employment for 855 people and export 80% of its production. It was noted that a significant portion of these exports will be made back to Turkey.
It was announced that the Şirikçioğlu Group, which will establish a denim factory in the same region, will also offer direct job opportunities to 500 Egyptians.
Çömez summarized the situation with the words, "While the Arabs' refugees are coming to Turkey, the Turks' investors are going to Egypt." Targeting the AKP government, Çömez harshly criticized the direction and distortion of economic policies, saying, "The ones most pleased with the AKP's 'Century of Turkey' must be the Arabs."
THE DIRECTION OF INVESTMENT AND THE ADDRESS OF EMPLOYMENT HAVE CHANGED
These statements from the IYI Party front have once again revealed that Turkish industrialists are turning abroad amidst rising costs and an environment of economic uncertainty, and that their interest in countries like Egypt, where cheap labor and incentives have become attractive, is increasing. Experts warn that investments leaving Turkey could negatively affect domestic employment and production balances in the long term.
