Turkish Parliament launches investigation into 'bag full of cash' claims involving CHP deputies

The Turkish Parliament has taken action following allegations that a bag full of cash was found in a CHP deputy's office. 

Following claims that 250 thousand dollars in a bag were found in a CHP deputy's office last week and that the money belonged to CHP Malatya Deputy and Metropolitan Mayoral candidate Veli Ağbaba, Ağbaba issued a statement denying the allegations. 

DEPUTIES FILED PETITIONS

Ağbaba stated that he would submit a petition to the Speaker of the Parliament to have the allegations investigated and security camera footage reviewed.

CHP Ordu Deputy Seyit Torun, whose name was mentioned in reports on the subject on social media, also denied the claim that the bag was found in his office and announced that he would submit a petition to the Turkish Parliament requesting the necessary investigations into the matter.

According to information received, some CHP deputies mentioned in the allegations submitted petitions to the Speaker of the Turkish Parliament. In line with the petitions submitted to the Speaker's Office, the TBMM General Secretariat appointed an investigator and the necessary work regarding the allegations has been initiated.
