TÜSİAD President Turan and TÜSİAD High Advisory Council President Aras were released by the duty judge after being referred to court, with a travel ban imposed.

Following TÜSİAD High Advisory Council President Ömer Aras, an investigation has also been launched into TÜSİAD President Orhan Turan on charges of 'publicly disseminating misleading information' and 'attempting to influence the judiciary'.

Turan was taken to the courthouse under police escort to provide his statement. After Aras and Turan provided their statements, both individuals were referred to the court.

The prosecutor's office requested a travel ban for both the TÜSİAD President and the TÜSİAD High Advisory Council President.

TÜSİAD President Orhan Turan arrived at the courthouse to provide his statement as part of the investigation launched against him.

TÜSİAD President Orhan Turan was detained at his workplace, while TÜSİAD High Advisory Council President Mehmet Ömer Arif Aras was detained at his home. Turan's statement began to be taken after he was brought to the courthouse.

TÜSİAD High Advisory Council President Mehmet Ömer Arif Aras also arrived at the courthouse to provide his statement as part of the investigation launched against him.

JUDICIAL CONTROL REQUESTED

TÜSİAD President Orhan Turan and TÜSİAD High Advisory Council President Mehmet Ömer Arif Aras were referred to the duty criminal judgeship of peace with a request for the application of judicial control measures in the form of a travel ban by the prosecutor's office.

Ömer Aras gave his statement for 2 hours and 40 minutes, while Orhan Turan gave his for 1 hour at the Press Crimes Investigation Bureau.

WHAT HAD HAPPENED?

The speeches delivered by High Advisory Council President Ömer Aras and TÜSİAD President Orhan Turan at the TÜSİAD General Assembly meeting on February 13 had caused a stir.

WHAT DID ÖMER ARAS SAY?

In his speech, Ömer Aras stated the following:

"Elected mayors are being removed from office and replaced by government-appointed trustees. An investigation is launched against a political party leader, and then they are arrested for a different reason. Investigations are opened against a metropolitan mayor minutes after a press conference due to their speeches. Journalists who publish expert opinions are detained, and an editor-in-chief is arrested. Newly graduated lieutenants are dismissed from the army. We can say that these events, which have occurred in rapid succession in a very short time, have created anxiety in society and shaken confidence."

An investigation had been launched against Aras on charges of 'attempting to influence a fair trial and publicly disseminating false information'.

WHAT DID ORHAN TURAN SAY?

TÜSİAD President Orhan Turan had stated the following:

"New arrests are constantly being added, yet perpetrators of incidents that cause public outrage are easily released. Establishing a criminal organization has become easier than starting a company.

The rule of law is the foundation of a modern state. Governance is conducted according to the rule of law, not arbitrarily. We are human beings; we are citizens of this country. We place human values above economic values. We cannot solve internal or external problems without establishing the rule of law. Our greatest wish is for the terror problem to be eliminated.

Although we support Mehmet Şimşek's policies, we cannot say that everything is going well. Industrialists are suffering, and the appeal of imports is increasing. How are we to continue our business in this environment? Industrialists, employers, and employees are all unhappy. We have left everything to time, but do we have any time left? Let us finally achieve lasting success in the fight against inflation so that industrialists can breathe. We cannot remain silent.

Newly graduated lieutenants are being dismissed from the army. We cannot say whether there is guilt or not in these incidents. However, we can say that these events, which have occurred one after another in a very short time, have created anxiety in society and shaken confidence. Furthermore, we see that the deep-seated problem of detention becoming the rule rather than the exception has not been solved, even though laws have changed. We see in acquittals and releases that come years later just how meticulously decisions regarding detention, judicial control, and even custody—which deprive a person of their freedom even for a single day—must be made. Despite today's atmosphere of anxiety and distrust, we never lose our hope for our country's future. Because we know that with the right policies, our country will prosper and our citizens will feel happy and peaceful."

PRESIDENT ERDOĞAN RESPONDED FOR THE FIRST TIME AT THE GROUP MEETING

AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan responded to the criticisms of the TÜSİAD management at his party's group meeting today, saying, "You may miss the old Turkey, but you will know your place in the new Turkey. If you are a business association, you will learn to act like a business association. You will not provoke the state's institutions."
