Two workers have lost their lives in a collapse that occurred during excavation work in Tuzla, Istanbul. In a statement on its social media account, the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IBB) stated that the accident occurred during excavation work belonging to a private company.

Two workers were trapped under soil in a collapse that occurred during excavation work belonging to a private company on Akbaşak Street in the Tepeören neighborhood of Tuzla.
Upon notification, fire, police, medical, and Provincial Disaster and Emergency Management (AFAD) teams were dispatched to the scene.
The teams recovered the lifeless bodies of the 2 workers.
In a statement made by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IBB), it was noted that the collapse occurred at a construction site belonging to a private citizen and that a landslide occurred during the infrastructure construction of a detached house.
In a post shared on the Istanbul Fire Department's social media account, the statement read: "As a result of a landslide that occurred during excavation work belonging to a private company on Akbaşak Street in the Tepeören neighborhood of Tuzla, the lifeless bodies of 2 workers were handed over to medical teams by our AFAD and fire department teams."
An ex officio investigation has been launched into the incident by the Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
