Ümit Özdağ: 'I am curious to see if prosecutors will take action against Sabah newspaper'

Zafer Party Chairman Ümit Özdağ, who was recently arrested and sent to prison, made a statement regarding the publication of his written petition requesting lighting in his cell by Sabah newspaper. Pointing to the unlawful process applied to journalists at Halk TV, Özdağ stated, "I am curious to see if prosecutors will take action against Sabah newspaper as well." 

Özdağ reacted to the fact that a photocopy of the written petition he submitted to the prison administration was published in Sabah newspaper. 

Making a statement on his social media account, Özdağ wrote: 

"In the solitary confinement cell where I am being held hostage for Öcalan, I submitted a written petition requesting that a desk lamp be provided—either from the canteen if available, or from outside—because the lighting was insufficient for me to read and write after dark.

I learned that a photocopy of this petition was published on the Sabah newspaper website on 29.01.2025, along with a news text.

A journalist also put the initials H.A. on the report. 

I am curious to see whether the prosecutors, who detained, arrested, imposed travel bans, and applied judicial control measures on Halk TV writers for an interview, will take action regarding the Editor-in-Chief of Sabah newspaper and this reporter who had my personal data removed from the prison and published in the newspaper.
