Ümit Özdağ: Our state is ungovernable, our nation is becoming poorer every day

In his October 29 message, Özdağ stated the following:

Since October 29, 1923, the Erdoğan regime has lost some of the gains of the Republic, abandoned sovereign rights in the Blue Homeland, disrupted the Turkish state structure by handing over bureaucratic positions to members of sects and religious communities, turned our borders into a thoroughfare causing more than 13 million refugees and illegal migrants to flood into Turkey, ruined the Turkish economy—which was once one of the world's leading strong economies—and sought ways to remove the term "Turk" from the Constitution of the Republic of Turkey, while looking for room to change the articles of the Constitution that are not even open to proposal for amendment, thus bringing the Republic of Turkey to the brink of severe threats.

Our state is ungovernable, our nation is becoming poorer every day, the people's income is being shared among more than 13 million refugees and illegal migrants of unknown origin, and the Turkish Nation is being lured into the trap of ethnic separatism.

We do not see a single step from the government to escape the grip of a process where our babies are killed in hospitals for 8 thousand liras, our youth have their throats slit by refugees and illegal migrants, our young girls fall victim to harassment, rape, and murder, drugs are sold on the streets as easily as buying gum, and virtual gambling destroys households. As if these were not enough, the proposal for the freedom of the terrorist leader Öcalan—the murderer of thousands—and his speaking in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, along with preparations for constitutional amendments and promises of a homeland to the Kurds, are all attempts to drag the Republic of Turkey to the brink of extinction.

Great Atatürk,

The Turkish Nation, which walks the path you set out on 101 years ago, defends your ideals, and will protect the Republic you called your “greatest work” at the cost of its life, is standing guard over your legacy and resisting under difficult conditions so that the Republic of Turkey may remain forever.

Even if we are not in the same war, we are on the same front. Even if we are not in the same time, we are facing the same internal and external enemies.

Whatever the price of protecting your legacy, we are determined to keep the Republic of Turkey alive forever and we will never take even a single step back.

Great Turkish Nation,

For these lands—whose price was paid with lives, whose borders were drawn with blood, and whose soil was soaked with the tears of mothers who gave their children as martyrs—to remain a homeland, and for the Turkish Nation living on these lands to maintain its sovereignty, it is only possible by upholding the struggle of Atatürk and his comrades-in-arms, and by protecting the republic they founded and the revolutions of the republic.

On this occasion, I celebrate the 101st anniversary of our Republic and the Republic Day of the Great Turkish Nation, and I commemorate with respect and mercy the founder and first president of our Republic, our eternal commander-in-chief Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, and the martyrs and veterans of the National Struggle, both then and now.
