Ümit Özdağ shares footage on fake diploma scandal! 'How did we get to this point?'

Zafer Party leader Ümit Özdağ, in a post about the fake diploma gang scandal shaking Turkey, said: "The fake e-signature scandal is in fact a deep attack on the Republic of Turkey's cyber world — that is, its information technology systems."

Turkey has been rocked for days by the fake diploma gang scandal. Zafer Party Chairman Ümit Özdağ made a striking statement regarding the scandal, in which it emerged that the electronic signatures of public institution officials were copied to issue fake diplomas and driver's licences.

Emphasising that the scandal amounts to "a deep attack on the Republic of Turkey's information technology systems," Özdağ said: "The full depth of the scandal within the state has not yet come to light. And unfortunately, the messages coming from the AK Party side show that the matter is not being viewed as a national security issue and that there are attempts to cover it up."

Continuing his post, Özdağ asked "So, how did we get to this point?" and shared footage of İrfan Keskin — who served as head of the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) Information Systems and Communications Department from 2015 to 2022 — taking the stage at a cybersecurity summit dressed in an Ottoman military costume to speak about information technology.

Özdağ's post reads as follows:

"The fake e-signature scandal is in fact a deep attack on the Republic of Turkey's cyber world — that is, its information technology systems.

It would be a grave mistake to view this merely as a fake diploma scandal. What has occurred is an infiltration into the capillaries of the Republic of Turkey, penetrating every kind of information, document, record, and duty system.

In this way, a drug dealer was appointed as a narcotics commissioner, and a high school graduate was able to obtain authorisation to build a dam as a construction engineer.

The full depth of the scandal within the state has not yet come to light. And unfortunately, the messages coming from the AK Party side show that the matter is not being viewed as a national security issue and that there are attempts to cover it up.
